Biography

A mobile services pioneer, Jawahar has many firsts to his credit starting from the first ever digital music deal globally (’98) to the world’s first and largest ‘Next Billion’ services platform Nokia Life Tools (’09-’13) that scaled to 125 million users.
Continuing his journey to unlock the full potential of mobile technologies creating transformational digital experiences, Jawahar founded TeamStreamz a cloud based sales tech platform for enterprises enabling their channel partners to deliver great customer experiences right down to the last mile.

Jawahar also follows his passion ‘connecting the unconnected’ as an advisor and consultant to Governments, public and private sector enterprises on their ‘Mobile & ICT for Development’ strategies on one hand and on the other mentoring startups in Big Data, Contextual Intelligence and the Internet of Things.

Until Oct’13, Jawahar was the Vice-President and Global Head of Nokia Life Tools services. He founded the Emerging Market Services division within Nokia. As the creator and Global Head of Nokia Life Tools services, Jawahar was responsible for pioneering Nokia’s efforts in bringing the benefits of the Internet and mobile services to enhance the daily lives & livelihoods of the millions in the emerging markets. Nokia Life is a range of Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, Women and Digital Empowerment services addressing millions of mobile consumers without timely access to their daily information needs, who probably would never use a PC. The service touched the lives of more than 125 million people in India, China, Indonesia, Nigeria and Kenya.

Before taking up the challenge of connecting the next Billion mobile users with Nokia Life Tools services in 2008, Jawahar was the Director of Nokia’s Multimedia Experiences in Asia Pacific bringing to market consumer services and experiences on Nokia mobile devices spanning across music, imaging, games, internet, mobile TV and location-based experiences.

Since the early days of mobile services (1997), Jawahar has been actively involved in stimulating and steering the mobile services ecosystem with mobile operators, regulators, NGOs, Development Agencies, ISPs, broadcasters, music labels, games publishers, mobile marketers and the content community. Jawahar has been active on several industry bodies covering entertainment, broadcasting and mobile marketing. He also has several service innovations and a few patents to his credit.
